Cllr Timmons says ‘’ I am calling on SDCC to do an immediate safety audit on Newcastle roads, Residents are raising why Main St should be classified as a primary route by SDCC? They realise Greenogue is adjacent to Newcastle but request that surely hgv’s should be encouraged to use N7, M50, M4 rather than shortcutting through the village to save time heading west. Many think since lockdown began everyone has appreciated the quieter roads and can see there is a better way?

Cllr Timmons says ‘’ Residents ask after several near misses that a full traffic assessment is required in Newcastle prior to schools re opening they are afraid that a child will be killed on the roads  , there is also huge concern re HGVs driving through Newcastle which many feel is putting their children at real danger’’

Cllr Timmons says ‘’ Residents are begging for something to be done by SDCC , They need something done about speeding in and out of Newcastle village – They say cars speeding have no regard for the safety of families out walking that road – Only a matter of time before someone is killed. They feel the speed limit should be 30kph as it’s a residential area and with another 500+ houses !!!! – and at  the very least that should be done is a survey of the speed and traffic levels on the road – I reckon 70% of traffic is exceeding the current 50kph , its very dangerous and residents feel SDCC is ignoring there issues in regards to constant speed at entrances to Newcastle’’
