YMCA Dublin celebrates International Volunteer Day

International Volunteers Day

Young people from YMCA Dublin celebrated International Volunteers Day on 5th December as they give thanks to all the YMCA Volunteers who support them. International Volunteers Day is mandated by the UN General Assembly to encourage and foster volunteerism worldwide for the social and economic development of communities.

As a registered charity and social enterprise, YMCA Dublin relies on the support of volunteers and funders to provide instrumental services to the community such as Child Care, the after school Homework Club and the PlusOne mentoring programme, which provides a support network to young people aged 10-17 years old from inner-city Dublin who are in need of guidance and support.

Kathryn O’Mahony, CEO of YMCA Dublin said “On behalf of the children, youths and everyone here at YMCA, we’d like to thank all of our volunteers that contribute to our centres and youth programmes. Without their dedication and efforts, we would not be able to provide the safe space and support that we give to the young people in our community. They are truly making a positive impact on these young lives.”
