Student nurse vote shows how little government values workers and students

Covid19

Eoghan Gardiner, Secretary of Workers’ Party Youth, has reacted to the decision taken by the government to vote against paying student nurses. Gardiner said: “The fact that the government has voted against paying student nurses, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, shows how little they value workers, students and our families.”

“They’ll happily sing the praises of student nurses for a bit of good publicity, only then to vote against their interests when it matters. Do they take frontline workers for fools?” he continued. Concluding, Gardiner said: “Society at large has shown a deep respect for frontline workers throughout the pandemic, but it’s clearly just been lip service from the government all along.”
