South Dublin County Council Shortlisted in nine categories in Local Government Awards

SDCC Local Government Awards

The 2023 Excellence in Local Government Awards, which are sponsored by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage are held to recognise and celebrate the outstanding work being carried out by Local Authorities all over Ireland. Awards will be presented for Local Government Excellence across fifteen different categories and one local authority will be awarded the overall award and named Local Authority of the Year.

South Dublin County Council has been recognised for the following projects:

  • Tallaght District-Heating Network in Climate Change
  • Voices of Ukraine in Diversity & Inclusion
  • Balgaddy Better Block Event in Festival of the Year
  • Teenspace Programme in Health & Wellbeing
  • Dublin Mountains Community Archaeology Initiative in Heritage and Built Environment
  • Green Infrastructure Strategy 2022-2028 in Supporting Sustainable Communities
  • Dublin Urban Rivers LIFE project in Sustainable Environment & Biodiversity
  • Sightless Cinema Tallaght in Sustaining the Arts
  • The Street; Kick starting the Tallaght Innovation Quarter in Urban Revival

South Dublin County Council have been successful in the past at these awards, winning the Local Authority Innovation Award for the Think Big Space project, in partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS) at the 2022 Awards. The Awards, sponsored by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, are held to recognise and celebrate the outstanding work being carried out by Local Authorities all over Ireland. Awards will be presented for Local Government Excellence across fifteen different categories and one local authority will be awarded the overall award and named Local Authority of the Year.

Speaking on the nominations, Chief Executive of South Dublin County Council Colm Ward said I’m delighted to see the wide range of our projects that have been recognised in the Excellence in Local Government Awards 2023. This is a testament to the work that the staff, Councillors, and many other stakeholders involved put in to deliver these projects, which all ultimately contribute to our continued aim of South Dublin being a great place to live and work.

The awards ceremony will be hosted on Thursday, 23rd November in the Crowne Plaza Hotel.
