South Dublin Community Mattress Recycling 2021

Mattress Recovery Recycle IT

It takes approximately 52 standard mattresses to create a tonne of mattresses. They can be made from combinations of wool, cotton and coconut fibre or synthetic fillings, such as polyester and latex. Others have metal springs for that extra bounce! So, lots of materials to recover for recycling. In October 2020, the Recycle IT team helped residents in Dublin recycle over 20 tonnes of mattresses which means they didn’t end up in landfills or on bonfires at Halloween.

This year Recycle IT are offering a free mattress recycling initiative during the month of October and prior to Halloween. It’s open to householders and runs up to the end of October 2021. You can simply drop off old household mattresses to Recycle IT in Dublin 22 at no cost. Arrive between 10 am and 1 pm, Monday – Friday and their team will be ready to help once you arrive!

If you do have an old mattress to recycle, you can also bring along old, damaged, or unused household electrical items for safe recycling. To learn more www.recycleit.ie or you can also call 01 4578321 weekdays from 9.30am – 3pm.
