A seminar exploring how to implement ‘the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities’ will take place in the Council Chamber, County Hall, Tallaght on Thursday, 4 April 2019 between 9.30 am to 2 pm. The seminar’s keynote address will be provided by Senator John Dolan who will address issues associated with implementing the Convention at County level. Dr. Iris Elliott, Head of Research, at the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission will outline that organisation’s role in monitoring and reporting on the implementation of the Convention whilst Dr. John Bosco Conama, Board Director, Irish Deaf Society will deliver the third presentation of the morning. Doctor Conama will outline the Irish Sign Language Act 2017, and the practicalities of implementing it at local level.

Tickets to the seminar, which is an initiative of the South Dublin County Disability Advisory and Consultative Panel, are free and are available on eventbrite. It will take place on Thursday, 4 April 2019, from 9.30 am to 2 pm in the Council Chamber, South Dublin County Council, County Hall, Tallaght, Dublin 24. County Hall is wheelchair accessible, the Council Chamber is fitted with an Audio Frequency Induction Loop (AFIL), and Irish Sign Language Interpretation will be provided.
