Sinn Féin TD for Dublin Mid West Eoin Ó Broin has welcomed the provision of 14 new car parking spaces for residents in the Boot Road. The works having finally been agreed following a three year campaign by residents supported by local politicians.

Deputy Ó Broin: “Residents in the Boot Road/Rockfield Drive estate have been campaigning for additional car parking spaces for many years. Originally built in the 1960s many of the houses do not have private car parking spaces and road space is limited. “In 2015 the Boot Road Residents Association made a formal request for additional car parking spaces during as Deputation to the Council. That request has been proactively supported both by myself when I was on the Council and by my colleague Cllr Mark Ward following my election to Dáil Éireann in 2016.

“Finally the Council has agreed both the funding of €50,000 and the locations selected. Work will commence shortly. The spaces will be provided on Rockfield Drive and the inner Boot Road.”

“This is a great example of a local community working with local politicians to ensure that their local needs are met. While it is regrettable that it took so long these additional spaces will provide some relief to the current parking problems in the estate.”
