Newcastle: Dublin’s fastest growing place

Newcastle Lynn Tierney

Lynn Tierney, local election candidate for the Social Democrats is highlighting the important role community groups and volunteers have in creating a sense of community in Dublin’s fastest growing place.

Ms Tierney notes “Newcastle was identified as Dublin’s fastest growing place in the most recent Census, with a 46% increase in population in 6 years. Community groups and proper community facilities are therefore so important to our villages to ensure we have what is needed to cater to a growing population.”

Ms Tierney, pictured with several of the committee members of the Newcastle Lyons Development Trust, attended the group’s AGM on 10th January and congratulated the committee members on their hard work over the last 18 months.

Ms Tierney encourages residents to get involved with their local community committees. “Volunteering, with any amount of time you can give, will make a huge difference. As a community group representative myself, I know that resident working together can lead to really successful outcomes for a community”.

Ms Tierney is a Local Election candidate for the Social Democrats in the Clondalkin LEA which includes Newcastle, Saggart,  Rathcoole and Brittas.
