“Ensuring that women who want to take leadership positions in politics, business, society and life in general have role models is a core priority for the European Women’s Leadership Academy” said Local Rathfarnham Councillor, Emma Murphy.

Cllr. Murphy was commenting after being selected to take part in the next series of the Academy which begins on the 12th April in Brussels.

“The Women’s Academy brings together female political leaders from across the European Union to share experiences and best practices.

“Despite coming from quite different backgrounds and political circumstances I suspect will we see similar themes emerging.

“Maximising the number of women getting involved in politics and in particular community politics is good for everyone.

“I want to be able to come back to South Dublin and share what I learn with other women. Who knows who might be inspired to run in the next Local or General Election,” concluded Murphy.
