Mixed messaging is having a detrimental impact on the nations mental health.

Local TD Mark Ward has said that the mixed messaging from the Government on extending of restrictions is having a detrimental impact on the nation’s mental health. He has called on the Government to come out this week and set the record straight and end the spin, the leaks and the uncertainty

Teachta Ward said: “We have been saying for a long time that the mixed messaging and kite flying coming from the Government has to stop. This is not a game between the Taoiseach and the Tanaiste to get the message out first and then to undermine each other.

“The people are worn out from conflicting information and off the cuff  announcements. Peoples mental health is being affected.

“There is a mass audience every time the Government announces restrictions. This is not because people want to see the Micheál and Leo show. They watch and listen because these announcements have an impact on their daily lives.

“When will I be able to open back up my business?

“When will I be able to go back to work?

“When will my children be going back to school?

“Will I be able to visit my parents?

“The questions are endless.

“I have been inundated with calls and messages of people who are concerned. People asking for me to give them a clear interpretation of exactly what is happening.

“Its time for the Taoiseach and the Tainiste to put away their egos, to stop this one-upmanship and to put the people first.

“For the sake of the mental wellness of the nation, the Government  need to come out this week and set the record straight and end the spin, the leaks and the uncertainty
