Medical Card, Drugs Payment and Prescription Charge schemes

Local Fine Gael Councillor Brian Lawlor has welcomed the announcement by the government to changes in the Medical Card, Drugs Payment and Prescription Charge schemes which includes; An increase in Over 70s medical card income limits. €10 reduction in the Drugs Payment Scheme threshold. And a 50 cent reduction in prescription charges for medical card holders.

Cllr Lawlor added “These will take effect from November 1st. Over 70s medical card income limits will increase from €500 per week for a single person to €550, and from €900 to €1050 for a couple. Eligible people over 70 will now only pay €10 per month for prescriptions, with under 70s paying €15 per month. This will be of great benefit to the over 70s. “
