Marathon Man To Ironman Challenge

Stephen Martin Tallaght Ironman

Tallaght man, Stephen Martin has founded the Marathon Man To Ironman challenge where athletes can join the team and help raise funds for their selected charity.  The selected charity for 2018 & 2019 is Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Ireland.

As part of Stephen’s own Marathon Man To Ironman challenge, he is planning on swimming the Irish Channel in 2019. Firstly Stephen will prove to the Irish Long Distance Swim Association that he can swim in water below 15° for over eight hours. Luckily they run a 25k swim race in August every year up in Enniskillen and Stephen will navigate his way through that and will hopefully cross the Channel Crossing in 2019.

The Irish Channel is one of the toughest swims in the world. As well as the choppy sea and cold water Stephen will have to navigate through tons of jellyfish.  Since 1947 there have been 57 successful crossings and he is fairly confident that he will add my name to that list. The team is growing with  a number of athletes willing to use their races this year to help us raise funds.
