Local organisation Archways shortlisted for prestigious Health Award

Health Awards

Clondalkin based organisation Archways have been shortlisted for the 2022 Irish Healthcare Centre Awards for their Changing Lives Initiative project. The innovative early intervention programme for families with children (3- 7yrs) at risk of an ADHD diagnosis has been shortlisted in the category of Healthcare Initiative: Child Health & Wellbeing.

ADHD is one of the most common disorders of childhood and can have a profound and lasting effect on children’s lives.  Archways mission is to effect real and lasting change for children and families experiencing behavioural, social and emotional issues, by developing and scaling-up evidence based and innovative national solutions and interventions that support families to realise their potential. The Changing Lives Initiative provides an evidence-based early intervention programme that has succeeded in significantly reducing the impact of ADHD on the lives and functioning of children and families.  Archways led out on the 3.5 year cross border project to deliver and evaluate the programme, which worked with over 2,000 families across Northern Ireland, the border counties of Ireland and Western Scotland.

Speaking about the shortlisting, Hugh Doogan, CEO at Archways said: ‘We are delighted to be shortlisted for this prestigious award.  Early Intervention and treatment has the capacity to dramatically improve outcomes for children and families.  The Changing Lives Initiative is a fantastic example of this.  The project has made a hugely positive impact upon the lives of so many families affected by ADHD.’

The Changing Lives Initiative was delivered thanks to the award from the European Union’s INTERREG VA Programme, which is managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB). Match-funding for the project was provided by the Department for Health in Northern Ireland and the Department of Health in Ireland.  The project continues its cross border work to advocate for change in ADHD treatment and service provision with the help of funding from The All Island Fund, managed by the Community Foundation for Ireland

The 2022 Irish Healthcare Centre Awards will take place on Friday 13th May at the Citywest Hotel, Dublin.
