Local Members of Ógra Fianna Fáil Gather to Commemorate the 1916 Easter Rising

Members of both Dublin South-West and Dublin Mid-West Ógra Fianna Fáil gathered on Good Friday to commemorate and lay a wreath for those who lost their lives during the 1916 Easter Rising.

At the commemoration, Chair of Dublin South-West and local Area Representative in Tallaght South Adam Smyth welcomed and thanked those who had attended. Local members were honoured to be joined by Cllr. Shane Moynihan, Cllr Charlie O’Connor, Cllr. Trevor Gilligan and newly elected members of the Central Officer Board of Ógra, Uachtarán Niall Gaffney and Dublin Organiser Liam Gleeson. They then invited Niall Gaffney Uacharían of Ógra to read the Proclamation. Members then heard from our local representatives before Sophia laid the wreath followed by a minute silence.

While speaking with chair of Dublin Mid-West Ógra Lauren Hodgins she said “It is great to have such a lovely commemorative garden on our doorstep, which we must thanks Clondalkin tidy towns for keeping it so clean throughout the year”

Clondalkin Commemorative Garden is located just off the Newland Cross junction on the Naas Road as you head into Clondalkin.

“We also want to thank our councillors who took the time out of their busy schedules for attending and showing their continued supported throughout the year” she added

Chair of Dublin South-West Ógra Adam Smyth said “It’s great to see young people having an interest in politics. Ógra is always making an impact and making sure young voices are heard, both locally and nationally”

Ógra Fianna Fáil is made up of young people aged 16-30 years old with units in nearly every constituency in the country. Ógra is always welcoming new members, they get involved and put the voice forward of young people on local, national, and international issues.

Adam added “Getting involved in Ógra was one of the best things I did, I’d really encourage anyone who has any interest or wants to learn more to get in touch with us on any of our social media accounts”

This was just one of many commemorations held across the country over the last week by members of Ógra Fianna Fáil including Tipperary and Galway.
