FREE NOW Ireland’s leading multi-mobility app recently hosted its inaugural FREE NOW Driver Awards. The Awards which took place at Croke Park marked the 10th anniversary of FREE NOW in Ireland and recognised driver partners from across the country who have consistently delivered the highest standards of service for passengers in Ireland. The winners were decided based on customer reviews, passenger stories and ratings on the app with 11 driver partners up for awards on the night. The event was hosted by comedian Mario Rosenstock and over 400 FREE NOW driver partners attending the event.

The most hotly contested category on the night was the Passenger Choice award where FREE NOW customers had the chance to nominate a driver. Four drivers were recognised on the night for going the extra mile.

  • Keith Mooney from Lucan in Dublin was nominated by a passenger for delivering her baby in the back of his taxi in his first six weeks of being a taxi driver! The passenger praised Keith’s cool, calm, and collected manner during a highly stressful situation.
  • Syed Abu Talib Rizvi from Lucan in Dublin was nominated by a passenger who credits Syed with saving their life. This passenger had been battling depression was on the verge of suicide. Syed took time to chat to the passenger reassuring them they were not alone and encouraged them to seek the help they needed.
  • Joseph McCann from Tallaght in Dublin was nominated by a passenger for bringing joy to their mum on her 80th birthday. Joseph ensured that the birthday girl had the best trip ever on the way to her party with a light show and music in the car to get everyone in a celebratory mood!
  • Robbie Heaton from Tallaght in Dublin was nominated for lending an ear to a passenger during a bad day at work. Robbie offered this passenger some good advice and regularly asks them how they’re doing when they get into his car.

Commenting on the awards Niall Carson, General Manager at FREE NOW Ireland said; “At FREE NOW we are lucky to work with amazing driver partners who really go above and beyond for customers every single day. This year we are celebrating our 10th anniversary in Ireland, and we wanted to mark this occasion by recognising our driver partners. Taxi drivers play a key role as part of Ireland’s wider public transport network helping to keep people moving and catering to individual transport needs. However, it’s not just about getting people from A to B. It’s clear from the feedback from our passengers that our drivers go the extra mile whether that’s adding a little joy to someone’s day, offering a listening ear, and sometimes even delivering a baby!”
