GOAL calls on young, motivated, future changemakers of Dublin to join it’s NextGen Youth Programme

Global Citizenship workshop in Dublin

Humanitarian aid agency, GOAL, is calling on young people across Dublin to join an innovative programme aimed at connecting them with peers in Africa and Latin America, to contribute to a fairer, more equal, and sustainable world.

GOAL is appealing to those aged between 18 and 25 with an interest in or understanding of global issues, to apply for the GOAL NextGen Youth Programme 2022.

GOAL’s NextGen Youth Programme brings together young people from all over the world to deepen their understanding of global citizenship and linked global justice issues. This programme will guide young, motivated changemakers to learn about the UN Sustainable Development Goals, empowering them with the knowledge and skills to act for a more sustainable future for all. Participants will collaborate in developing creative awareness-raising tools to share their learnings and hopes for our connected world with other young people across Ireland and beyond.

Participants will join 10 interactive online seminars between May and September 2022 introducing them to key sustainable development issues including humanitarian crises, food and nutrition security, resilient health and well-being and climate change, informed by expert guest speakers from across GOAL and their partners.

GOAL Global Citizenship Manager, Victoria Walshe, said: “In these challenging times, there is renewed urgency for action in response to global crises. The Covid-19 pandemic has shown us how truly interconnected we are;  What happens in one part of the world can and does affect those in every other part of the world. Tackling other crises such as conflict, climate change, and global poverty and inequalities can only happen if we work together as a global community. Young people are the key to finding sustainable solutions.”

She added: “Participation in the NextGen Youth Programme will instil an understanding of global citizenship and its links to effective and sustainable action for young people while building their  skills and confidence to advocate at local, national, and international levels. They will also have the opportunity to connect with GOAL’s growing Global Youth Network of passionate young people around the world who are ready to take on the challenges that lay ahead of us all.”
