€51M for SDCC to dispose 85.01 acres at Grange Castle Business Park

Trevor Gilligan Grange Castle

Local Councilor Trevor Gilligan commented “SDCC has agreed to dispose of 85 acres to Novo Nordisk Production Ireland Ltd for construction of a Pharmaceutical Plant for medical products for diabetes, obesity, and rare diseases. With an option to dispose of a further 21.3 acres at a future date (Which would indicate a further €12.78M boost for SDCC). The cost per acre is to be set at €600,000 totalling €51M for SDCC. For any missed payments by Novo Nordisk, there will be a daily 8% interest charged.”

Cllr Gilligan has stated “Local employment must be paramount as part of this project, not just during construction & development phase but long term for both Novo and SDCC. There is a lot of local talent here in the Clondalkin, Newcastle & surrounding areas. We have highly skilled and trained individuals and I hope to see them get involved in this project as early as possible. I would also ask that at least 10%-20% of the €51 million is ring-fenced for investment into the local area, towards community & education & skills development.”
