Dublin Literary Award

Pictured at the Mansion House are Dublin Lord Mayor Hazel Chu and Una Smyth, from the award office at Dublin City Libraries, with each of the 49 longlisted titles for the 2021 DUBLIN Literary Award. A Dublin City Council initiative it is the world’s most valuable annual prize for a single work of fiction published in English, worth EUR100,000 to the winner. Nominations this year include 18 novels in translation with works nominated by libraries from 30 countries.

There are 4 Irish titles in the longlist: ‘When all is Said’ by Anne Griffin, ‘Apeirogon’ by Colum McCann, ‘Shadowplay’ by Joseph O’Connor and ‘The Trumpet Shall Sound’ by Eibhear Walshe.

The shortlist will be announced on 25th March and the winner will be announced by Lord Mayor of Dublin, Hazel Chu, on 20th May, as part of the opening day programme of International Literature Festival Dublin, which is also funded by Dublin City Council.
