Trevor Gilligan Clondalkin

Clondalkin hosts the highest number of Ukrainian refugees across Dublin according to figures release by the CSO, broken down by Local electoral areas (LEA) in each Local Authority (LA). SDCC hosted 7.49% arrivals, the highest number within the 4 Dublin Councils. The Clondalkin LEA hosted the highest number of arrivals in the whole Dublin area, 1,235 (2.41% of total population arrivals). Followed closely by Tallaght South also in South Dublin 875. Within SDCC, Rathfarnham-Templeogue, hosted the lowest amount with 81 arrivals (.17% of total population arrivals).

Within Dublin, SDCC hosted 7.49% of Ukrainian arrivals, the most of all the Dublin Local Authorities. Followed closely by DCC: 6.46%, then Fingal @ 4.12%. Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown hosted 3.6%, the least number of Ukrainian arrivals in the Dublin area.

“This is a terrible time for all involved, I welcome and support Ukrainian families who have been involuntarily displaced by the war. Whilst some families will return home in the future, many are setting down roots. We need to make sure that the services & facilities are in place to support that. Services are stretched as things are. This is going to have a huge impact on our systems and the minister must make sure that Clondalkin, Rathcoole, Newcastle & Saggart get the resources required to handle and manage such a large increase in the population” stated Cllr Trevor Gilligan.
