Call for government to provide masks to commuters

Following a decision to make face masks mandatory on public transport, the Workers’ Party has called on the government to provide masks to commuters.

David Gardiner, Workers’ Party representative in Dublin Mid-West, said: “The government has a responsibility to provide people with face masks to protect public health, especially as more and more people go back to work.” “Ensuring that people have the appropriate equipment to get around will prove crucial in getting society up and running again. Failure to do this will only slow things down.”

He continued, saying: “It’s one thing to call for people to wear face masks on public transport, but if you don’t actually provide those masks, you’re not actually solving the problem.”

Concluding, Gardiner said: “I’m calling on the government to provide clarity on this situation, and to ensure that face masks are provided to all commuters on public transport.”
