BusConnects Liffey Valley bus corridor plans published

Dublin Bus

The NTA announced a second phase of public consultation for a number of new bus corridors in recent weeks. The second phase includes a bus corridor with upgraded sections from Liffey Valley to Dublin City Centre. This route goes through the upper end of Palmerstown through Ballyfermot and Inchicore to the City Centre. The upgrade may effect up to 60 properties. The public consultation is open until 29th March.

Cllr Madeleine Johansson of People Before Profit commented: “The new bus corridors will significantly improve journey times for public transport users. In most areas there will be little impact on people’s property, however there may be a number of houses effected in Whitethorn in Palmerstown as well as a reduction of green spaces along the Coldcut Rd.” “I would encourage everyone interested in the project to make a submission. It’s important that both public transport users and residents express their views on this issue. In the interest of the environment we need increased funding and infrastructure for public transport. The service is currently inadequate for the population in the Dublin Mid West area forcing many to use cars instead of public transport. Many cities in Europe are moving towards free public transport, this is something the Irish Government should consider.”
