An Post’s operational overhaul sparking delivery delays in West Dublin

A new operational plan for the Fonthill and Blanchardstown delivery offices has resulted in delays for both regular mail and package deliveries, a local TD has said. Deputy Emer Higgins has raised concerns about the disruptions faced by Dublin residents due to these new procedures.

“This recently implemented operational plan for the Fonthill and Blanchardstown Delivery Offices should be focused on making the service more efficient. Unfortunately, this plan has done quite the opposite and resulted in delays in deliveries,” Deputy Higgins said. “Constituents have complained they are not receiving important documentation on time. Some residents have even reported receiving “ghost” delivery notifications, only to find that their parcels have not actually been delivered. “These disruptions have caused growing frustration for many Dubliners, particularly for the residents in Clondalkin and Lucan who have been experiencing significant delays. “We must always be mindful that there are those in society who do not use email, they rely more heavily on the postal service and should not be disadvantaged due to unnecessary disruptions. “As An Post is our sole postal service provider, it’s critical that they also minimise disruption to their workforce by implementing a fair and reasonable change management plan. An Post had assured me that steps are being taken to minimise disruption. “Residents and businesses should not have to suffer as this new plan is rolled out – An Post needs to get its act together,” Deputy Higgins concluded.
