Almost 5,000 Leaving CertificateStudents Register for Griffith College’s Free Online Maths Revision Course

Griffith College Maths

Close to five thousand Leaving Cert Students registered for Griffith College’s FREE online Maths Revision course which just fell short of the total number of registrations for the event in 2017, 18 and 19 combined. The courses which have traditionally been run at the College’s campuses in Dublin, Cork and Limerick took place online in response to Government recommendations on reducing the spread of COVID-19.

Facilitated by Griffith College’s Director of Academic Programmes, Dr Tomás Mac Eochagáin, the free online workshops provided resources and tips for students in the Leaving Cert paper content for Higher and Ordinary level maths.

Dr Mac Eochagáin said, “Our annual Leaving Cert maths revision programmes are hugely popular with Leaving Cert students. This year, we have experienced extraordinary demand for the course this year. This could be attributable to the closure of the schools and also the convenience of being able to participate in these classes for free from the comfort of their own homes. The Leaving Cert students are under huge stress this year with all the personal upheaval they and their families are experiencing and we hope that the availability of this course online will offer continuity and support to them at this difficult time.”

Schools Liaison Officer at Griffith College Sinéad O’Callaghan said, “We’re delighted to offer our workshop to students in an online format this year. Nevertheless, we have tailored the programme to be delivered online and to support students with their Leaving Cert Math studies at this time. Tomás is a passionate Mathematics educator and our values are to support all students nationwide with their studies. We’re proud to offer this workshop free of charge and follow it up with an online Maths resource with further videos, class notes and examination materials to enable the students to achieve their best’.

The online resources used by Dr Mac Eochagáin during the course will be made available to registered students until after the Leaving Certificate examinations at Griffith’s maths YouTube channel. Students can register for the workshops at www.griffith.ie.
