Dealz and Poundland stores across Ireland and the UK will donate over 100,000 Easter Eggs this week in support of our brave frontline workers and those providing care and support within local communities.

Each of Dealz 66 stores across the Republic of Ireland will donate Easter Eggs to their chosen local charity or organisations. From our national hospitals to our wonderful care homes and local charities, each Dealz store will chose an organisation to donate to.

Dealz customers will also have the opportunity to join in and give back to local charities and communities. From today (Wednesday, 8th April), Dealz customers can purchase and donate an Easter Egg as a show of support to those looking after them and their loved ones. On Good Friday, 10th April, Dealz will add customers’ donations to the chocolate deliveries which will be made across their communities.

Sharon Sheridan, Country Manager for Dealz Ireland said: “If people need to visit a Dealz store to do essential shopping, then donating an Easter Egg is a great way of saying thank you to all those dedicated people providing care and support. We’d love people to donate and for every egg they buy, we’ll be delighted to match it.”

Dealz stores continue to operate in order to provide customers with essential items their communities require. Customers are urged to follow government advice including keeping your distance of 2m apart, using contactless or card payments where possible and buying what you need, as we continue to re-stock our shelves, helping us help you.

A number of teams from Dealz stores across Ireland together with their generous customers have been busy donating and delivering essentials and treats to hospitals for doctors, nurses, paramedics and all the frontline staff as a “thank you” for all of the amazing work being carried out.

The teams have donated and delivered  product to the Paediatric Unit in Sligo General Hospital; over 500 boxes of Milk Tray donated to hospital staff in UCH Galway; product donations made to the catering and the paramedics and ambulance staff in Mayo General Hospital; lots of goodies arrived to Mullingar Regional Hospital and the local fire brigade services in Longford this week and HSE staff in Limerick received a product drop-off from Dealz comprising customer donations to name a few. Staff in Henry Street, Limerick have also been allowing ambulance crew members shop for free this week as a thank you for the amazing work they are doing.

Speaking about the work being carried out across communities, Sharon says, “The store teams have been inundated with generous donations from customers while in our stores to shop for their daily essentials – and we wish to express our thanks to them for this. Many of our customers have kindly donated the price of a box of chocolates for example as part of their shop and our store teams have overseen that this product is delivered to the local frontline workers in their areas. We have seen our managers approach frontline staff such as paramedics while in store and advising them their shop is complimentary. We look forward to continuing to support our local frontline workers and communities in whatever way we can.”

Dealz, Ireland’s leading discount retailer, houses a number of household essentials including bread, milk, cereals, toilet roll, sanitary products, toiletries, medicines etc and are remaining open in line with the Irish Government’s updated measures. The store has also incorporated a number of measures to further protect staff and customers including Perspex screens at checkouts – for extra reassurance; managed flow of shoppers entering the stores; limited till openings and out of hours stock replenishment.

To find out how you can donate some product to frontline workers and organisations in your area, please ask any staff member in your local Dealz store and they will be happy to advise.
