Cherry orchard reconsider closing two units at the same time

HSE Clondalkin Tallaght

Cllr Francis Timmon commented ‘’I have heard that cherry Orchard Hospital are in the process of closing down two units that elderly people reside in, and the reason being is that the floors need to be updated, now they could close one, do the work on that, and then close the other and do the repairs on that, but no, there going to move all the patients to private nursing homes, with no physiotherapists, etc, they won’t get the proper care that they have got in Cherry Orchard Hospital for many years, they are moving there patients a day from the 20th of November, that seems to be very quick from the powers to be, now all the patients and their families are very distressed over this happening,  I have asked the Minister for Older People to look at this and compromise. Its very stressful for people to be moved like this and anything that would make it less traumatic would be great’’
