Dublin Mid-West Eoin Ó Broin T.D. has welcomed the news that the Serviced Sites Fund (SSF) will help deliver 233 new affordable homes in Clonburris and Rathcoole in Dublin Mid-West. However the party’s housing spokesperson has also said that ‘it is only a drop in the ocean and much more is needed’. The funding was announced by the Department of Housing last week and will help deliver 100 affordable homes in Rathcoole and 133 in Clonburris.

Deputy Ó Broin said “The funding approval announced for infrastructure works on sites in Clonburris and Rathcoole aim to deliver affordable homes. “The affordable housing commitment on the Clonburris SDZ was secured thanks to amendments submitted by the Sinn Féin team during the SDZ process. “What needs to happen is next is that the Minister for Housing needs to ensure that these homes are truly affordable for working families. “We need to see homes available to purchase at €250,000 and while the 233 new affordable homes due to be delivered by this fund will help some families it is simply not enough. “There is a growing housing affordability crisis in this county and while any new affordable homes are welcome this is only a drop in the ocean and much more is needed.”
